SuperSport coach rules out Modiba departure
SuperSport United head coach Kaitano Tembo has ruled out the possibility of defender Aubrey Modiba departing the Premiership club ahead of Monday's transfer deadline.
The 24-year-old full-back, who can also operate on the left wing, has been the subject of transfer speculation over the past few months, after SuperSport Utd CEO Stanley Matthews in July revealed that Kudakwashe Mahachi had been signed as his potential replacement.
SuperSport were of the opinion that Modiba was ready for a big move overseas, but it has since been suggested that defending Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns were eyeing a move for the player.
And, after Modiba made a return from injury in Sunday's 1-1 draw with Sundowns in the MTN8 semi-finals, Tembo has made it clear that the full-back is very much in his plans this season.
"Aubrey is not going anywhere," Tembo revealed in his post-match interview.
"We are going to try to keep our best players for us to progress and improve as a team.
"We are happy that Aubrey is also happy to stay with us."
