Citizens appoint Jan Olde Riekerink

Cape Town City FC have wasted little time in securing Benni McCarthy's replacement after announcing the appointment of Dutch manager Jan Olde Riekerink.

The 56-year-old had been on the lookout for a new club after parting ways with Eredivisie outfit SC Heerenveen back in April.

Taking to Twitter to confirm the news, Cape Town City published the following message from Riekerink.

"I'm really proud to be back here, and I'm really proud to coach this team."

Prior to his stint at the helm of Heerenveen, Riekerink managed Galatasaray, while he also coached China's U16 and U19 teams.

He was also Head of Youth Development at Ajax Amsterdam between 2007 and 2011.

Cape Town City take on Polokwane City in an Absa Premiership clash on Wednesday evening, and Riekerink could be in the dugout for the game at Cape Town Stadium.
