Xulu would love to stay at Maritzburg despite Pirates interest
Maritzburg United defender Siyanda Xulu insists he would be delighted to stay at the Team of Choice despite reported interest from Orlando Pirates.
The 28-year-old centreback only has six months remaining on his current contract with United, which has led to speculation that he could join the Buccaneers, who are eager to improve their struggling defence.
However, Xulu has made it clear that he is loving life at Maritzburg and would be keen to sign a new contract with the club.
"My contract is ending‚ so it's either I am going back to negotiate [with United]‚ which is something that I think will happen because I am quite happy at Maritzburg‚" he told SowetanLIVE.
Xulu signed for Kaizer Chiefs in 2015, after returning from a spell in Russia at Rostov, but he failed to establish himself in the first team and left for Maritzburg in 2017.
"You know what happened in my very first two years when I came back from overseas," he added.
"They [Maritzburg] have a very soft spot in my heart and I would love to stay at Maritzburg.
"For now I am just focusing on Maritzburg because I have the luxury six months [left on his contract‚ in which to negotiate].
"The team that I am working for they are very professional. I don't think they'll try and engage me on whatever is going to happen in the future.
"As I said I am still focused on Maritzburg for now because I still have a contract with them."
