SuperSport drop points away to Baroka
There was no separating Baroka and SuperSport United as they played to a goalless draw at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Pietersburg on Sunday.
- Baroka FC 0 SuperSport United 0
- SuperSport move from sixth to fourth
- Baroka stay in 15th place
It was an energetic but fruitless encounter for both sides, although Baroka will at least be happy to have picked up a point.
SuperSport were quickest out of the blocks with Clayton Daniels just off target with an early header following a long-throw from Phumlani Ntshangase.
The away side were dominating play but without really threatening, although Aubrey Modiba should have done better with his effort from inside the box after being set up by Grant Kekana.
Baroka were struggling to really get hold of the ball as Ghampu Lungu forced Elvis Chipezeze to tip over his crossbar ahead of the half-time break.
Lungu was again close to an opener but fired against the crossbar midway through the second period.
SuperSport substitute Kamohelo Mahlatsi denied late on Chipezeze as both sides made all of their changes in a bid to effect the outcome.
But with neither side able to threaten, the game petered out to a goalless draw, leaving SuperSport to rue a missed opportunity to move level with Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs a point behind leaders Wits at the top of the Premiership standings.
