Benni confident CT City can beat Polokwane City

Cape Town City coach Benni McCarthy says his side are more than capable of beating Polokwane City in Tuesday's Premiership clash at Pietersburg Stadium in Polokwane.

City are in good form going into the contest having beaten both Black Leopards and AmaZulu respectively, whereas, Rise and Shine are also in solid form and occupy seventh place in the table on 18 points.

Meanwhile, the Citizens are on 13 points in eighth place but could cement their place in the top eight with a victory away from home soil. Kickoff is from 19:30.

Speaking to reporters, McCarthy said: "I think the few times we've played Polokwane, they've been in superb form, but then we've gone there, and should've come away with all three points.

"Even last time, when we played on that small stadium pitch next to the big stadium...you know when they want to collect points, they like to take teams to the Old Peter Mokaba instead of the big World Cup Stadium where their games are supposed to be played.

"But we've managed them okay in the past and should have come away with all three points, we got a point there, and I'm confident that with the form we're in, we're starting to fire.

"We are starting to gel and find the back of the net now, and we've used the international break wisely to work on a lot of things so that come Polokwane, we're in the mood not just to gain points but score more goals.

"So I'm not too worried, as much as they are in good form and on a good run, with their new coach seemingly getting things right there, but I think we're also getting things right now, so we couldn't have played them at a better time."
