Avoiding relegation is Kavazovic's top priority
Free State Stars' new head coach, Nikola Kavazovic, says his number one priority is to keep Ea Lla Koto in the Absa Premiership this season.
Kavazovic was announced as Stars' new head coach in the week leading up to the Christmas break, and he faces a tough task in the second half of the campaign with just two points separating his side from Maritzburg United at the bottom of the league standings.
Despite their current predicament, the former Township Rollers boss feels the club is a good fit for him, both on and off the pitch.
"Let's say I didn't see one reason to reject," he told KickOff. "Club structure, culture, potential of the team, realistic aims. Everything was perfect match for me as a coach."
He continued: "This season our main aim is to keep PSL status. But we will not miss the chance to grab everything more than that if [we] get that chance. Basically most important is that we don't depend on others."
Kavazovic has no immediate plans to bring in new players, saying he will use the next three fixtures to assess the players currently at his disposal.
However, he did admit that he could look to bring in some players from his former club in the off-season.
"I am fine with [the] players who are here," Kavazovic explained. "After three games we will sit and discuss if we need to refresh.
"There is lots of players there, especially in Township Rollers since they worked 16 months under me with great success. But now it is not that kind of cuts, maybe in June."
