CVs pouring in for Celtic job despite financial dire straits

Bloemfontein Celtic official Mandla Tshabalala says CVs are continuing to come in for the vacant head coaching role of the financially troubled side.

Recently, Steve Komphela stepped down citing unprofessionalism and non-payment of promised monies to both himself, his technical staff and the players.

Komphela subsequently joined Golden Arrows after the club parted ways with Clinton Larsen.

Nonetheless, Tshabalala, who is a lawyer and the cousin of Siwelele chairman Max Tshabalala, confirmed that interest in the head coaching job remains very high.

Speaking to Soccer Laduma, he said: "You will be surprised to know this, but there are still a lot of coaches who are applying (to fill the vacant post) knowing what the situation is.

"It's not a secret what is happening here, although it's a pity given that this is a big brand. Our issues will always get out publicly."

Celtic have appointed Lehlohonolo Seema and John Maduka as co-coaches until the end of the season, but is expected they will name a permanent successor after that point.

The pair started 2019 on a positive note as they were in charge as the side beat Chippa United 1-0 on Friday, with Ndumiso Mabena getting the winning goal in the 58th minute.
