Ellis and Salah amongst big winners at CAF awards

Egypt and Liverpool star Mohamed Salah was crowned 2018 CAF African Player of the Year while Desiree Ellis won Women's Coach of the Year for Banyana Banyana.

Salah enjoyed a superb 2018 where he won the Golden Boot in the Premier League by netting an incredible 32 goals in 36 appearances.

He also played an influential role in helping his nation qualify for the 2019 African Cup of Nations now set to take place in Egypt.

Meanwhile, Ellis was honoured for helping Banyana to reach the Africa Women's Cup of Nations final as well as qualify for the 2019 World Cup as well.

In addition, Thembi Kgatlana was named CAF Women's Player of the Year and she received the gong for Goal of the Year for her strike against Nigeria at the Africa Women's Nations Cup.

Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Denis Onyango was also among the silverware as he was named in CAF's prestigious Team of the Year.
