Memela joins the Pirates walking wounded

Orlando Pirates have provided an update on the injury front, with Luvuyo Memela joining Ben Motshwari and Vincent Pule on the sidelines.

The Buccanneers are in the middle of a terrible run of form, failing to win any of their last six matches, which has seen them being dumped out of the CAF Champions League and the MTN8, while dropping off the pace set by Absa Premiership leaders.

In the middle of those, coach Milutin Sredojevic resigned, with Rhulani Mokwena roped in on a caretaker basis.

On the injury front, Pule sustained an injury during Bucs' 1-1 draw in the Champions League against Green Eagles a fortnight ago, while Motshwari has been out since the shock loss in the MTN8 to Highlands Park.

Pule is currently "undergoing field-based rehabilitation and he will be reassessed next week to see when he can be reincorporated slowly back into the team", while Motshwari will spend at least another three weeks on the sidelines.

Memela, meanwhile, sprained his ankle in training on Monday but should be back by next week.
