Fish: Bartlett can inspire Bafana like he did in '96
Former South Africa star Mark Fish has tipped former team-mate Shaun Bartlett to inspire the national team after joining Stuart Baxter's coaching staff.
Bartlett, who scored 28 goals for Bafana Bafana and helped them to Africa Cup of Nations glory alongside Fish in 1996, has been called up to the technical team for the qualifying double-header against Seychelles.
"(It's) awesome to see and let's hope that Shaun can inspire the boys as he did in '96," the 44-year-old told Soccer Laduma.
"Shaun was an inspiration on the field by the way he played, and off the field even when he did not start, he knew the importance of inspiring the players... teamwork led to our success, on and off the field."
Fish has talked up Bafana's chances of success, saying that at present, the team is not performing to its full potential.
"They just need to believe in themselves as they are better than they are portraying at the moment... make FNB a fortress," he said.
FNB Stadium will host Saturday's clash, before Bafana travel to Seychelles for Tuesday's return fixture.
