Chiefs' clash with German Bundesliga giants Bremen called off
Kaizer Chiefs' friendly clash with Bundesliga side Werder Bremen at the FNB Stadium was called off on Sunday afternoon due to rain and lightning.
Chiefs went into the game with an entirely different side to the team that lost 2-1 to Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday in the Premiership.
Reserve team coach Arthur Zwane was in charge for the match while Bruce Bvuma started in goal for the Glamour Boys.
However, there was some first team players in the encounter with the likes of Lorenzo Gordinho, Ryan Moon and Siphelele Ntshangase featuring.
The match was called off due to the inclement weather after Bremen were leading through a 43rd minute strike by 20-year-old forward Johannes Eggestein.
Speaking to his club's official Twitter account after the game, the striker said: "We didn't really know what to expect from our opponents.
"They played well and made life difficult for us. It's a shame we couldn't finish the match."
Bremen now switch their focus to Friday's tie against Premiership leaders Bidvest Wits, which is also set to be played behind closed doors.
