Bidvest Wits v Kaizer Chiefs

Bidvest Wits will have the chance to extend their advantage at the top of the Premiership when they face struggling Kaizer Chiefs in Wednesday's clash at Bidvest Stadium.

Wits are flying high at the top of the standings on 33 points from 16 matches and may fancy their chances of adding a fifth win in their last six matches in the league.

With that said, the Clever Boys don't boast an impressive home record on home soil in recent times meaning Chiefs could have every chance of picking up all three points.

Gavin Hunt's men have lost two, drawn two and won once in their last five PSL outings at home. Meanwhile, the Glamour Boys come into the contest on the back of an unfortunate defeat to major rivals Mamelodi Sundowns.

Amakhosi dominated the game against the Brazilians last weekend but lost 2-1 after a horrendous howler from goalkeeper Virgil Vries.

As such, Chiefs players and management will be highly motivated to bounce back though coach Ernst Middendorp believes his side must improve their finishing.

He said: "I was wondering which direction the strikers were moving, sometimes closing the space for their own teammate. But we'll analyse and go into it and try to find what needs to be done better."

Meanwhile, Hunt is under no illusions about the tough challenge his team faces, telling reporters: "Ernst is an experienced guy, so he knows his story. We are expecting a big fight from them, so we have to be up for battle."

In the first round of this corresponding fixture, Wits claimed victory. Leonardo Castro was the scorer of Chiefs' only goal in a 3-1 defeat.

In team news, Middendorp could make some changes to the line-up that lost to Sundowns. Hendrick Ekstein and Godfrey Walusimbi could miss out after being subbed at half-time in that contest.

In addition, Bruce Bvuma could be in contention for a start ahead of Vries. Wits appear to have no new notable injury concerns from the side that beat Free State Stars last Saturday.

Kickoff is from 19:30 in Johannesburg.
