Chiefs and Pirates not in title race, says ex-PSL star
Former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Tyren Arendse believes Sundowns and Bidvest Wits are favourites to take the title.
Arendse, who spent two years at Pirates as well another two with Sundowns from 2004 until 2008, also takes the view that Cape Town City are a dark horse in the race.
The 38-year-old ruled out both Kaizer Chiefs and Pirates for the crown despite the fact that both clubs are in the running.
Currently, the Brazilians lead the Premiership by three points with the Sea Robbers in second.
He told Soccer Laduma: "As I said, I think it's going to be between Sundowns and Wits to win it. But obviously, as a Cape Town boy and for Benni, I'd say also Cape Town City.
"I think he (Benni) is done with playing with Wits and Sundowns, but I think he might have a big say coming towards the end of the season.
"As for Chiefs and Pirates, there have been too many inconsistencies, you know. Pirates look decent and they look strong. But when you expect them to win games, they drop points.
"The way they play under Micho (Milutin Sredojevic), I think they play brilliant football but sometimes they need to just grind out the results. Sometimes that's what it takes to get to the top."
