Cape Town City v Polokwane City

Cape Town City have a huge opportunity to continue their title charge when they face fellow high flyers Polokwane City in Friday's Premiership clash at Cape Town Stadium.

City come into the encounter in top form having won four of their last five matches.

In addition, the outfit from the Mother City are something of a juggernaut at home having won eight of their last 10 games.

The Citizens are full of confidence after beating Mamelodi Sundowns and Bidvest Wits in their last two outings.

However, they do have some injury concerns with Roland Putsche and Thabo Nodada out for the rest of the season. Meanwhile, Kouassi Kouadja and Kwanda Mngonyama are a doubt after being injured against Wits.

Nonetheless, coach Benni McCarthy says his side have had an extended break since the win over the Brazilians on 5 March.

He told IOL: "A break is what this team needed. My players are exhausted.

"It's not like I am spoiled for choice where I have (Thabo) Nodada, (Roland) Putsche and Kouassi (Kouadja), Kwanda Mngonyama also got injured in the Wits game.

"So for me, any break is welcomed because that would give me a couple of days for Kwanda to return.

"If I can recover one of the injured players, that's nice. And I wanted to give the players time off with their family, wives and girlfriends."

City are third in the standings behind Orlando Pirates in second and are four points behind Downs at the top.

Meanwhile, Rise and Shine are also seemingly in with a shout of mounting a late title challenge as they are in sixth position, seven points behind Sundowns.

Coach Jozef Vukusic's men are unbeaten in five matches and have lost just once in their last 10 away matches, meaning they could fancy their chances.

Striker Rodney Ramagalela remains out for the visitors as he has been exiled after signing a pre-contract agreement with Highlands Park.

Friday night's action is set to get underway from 20:00 in Cape Town.
