Rivaldo Coetzee suffers setback, doubtful for Bafana
Mamelodi Sundowns defender Rivaldo Coetzee will miss Mamelodi Sundowns' CAF Champions League clash against Wydad Casablanca after picking up an injury.
The 22-year-old, who was recalled to the national team this week for the first time in two years, injured his troublesome right foot during Sundowns training in Morocco ahead of their final group fixture.
KickOff.com report that Sundowns' travelling medical team have suggested to Pitso Mosimane that he spare Coetzee against Wydad - even more so because they've already qualified for the CAF Champions League quarterfinals.
"Rivaldo did a check-up with the club after he was struggling with his foot injury, it's not something hectic but he won't feature tomorrow," the source tells KickOff.com.
National coach Stuart Baxter will undoubtedly be monitoring the situation too, considering Bafana Bafana's upcoming CAF Africa Cup of Nations qualifier is a make or break and Coetzee's form is as good as ever.
Sundowns, too, will be mindful that Coetzee only joined them in 2017 because an agreed move to Celtic in Scotland fell through following to a failed medical. He then sat out the entire 2017-18 season after arriving at Chloorkop.
He has featured in 12 matches since returning to full fitness in December 2018.
