Sundowns go level with Pirates after Chippa win
Mamelodi Sundowns showed top class pedigree as they came from behind to record a brave 3-2 victory over Chippa United in Tuesday's Premiership clash.
The result means Sundowns go level with Orlando Pirates on 50 points at the top of the table though they remain in second based on goal difference.
Yet, the hosts were stunned in the opening half an hour as Mark Mayambela's strike sailed in to put the cat amongst the pigeons in terms of the title race.
With that said, Downs found a way back into the contest as captain fantastic Hlompho Kekana headed home from Gaston Sirino's accurate free-kick from the right.
The Brazilians were starting to dominate and took the lead after the interval as Tebogo Langerman pulled the ball back from Sirino's accurate pass into the left-hand side channel - before Sibusiso Vilakazi tucked home as it became 2-1.
The African giants poured forwards and the superb Sirino made it 3-1 not long after a flowing move.
However, there was an element of panic stations towards the end as Andile Mbenyane lobbed a pass into the ice-cool Rhulani Manzini - who volleyed home beyond a stranded Kennedy Mweene.
Mweene was the hero deep into injury time as he produced a stunning double save to ensure the three points went to the Brazilians.
