Kaizer Chiefs blocked from signing Thabang Monare
Bidvest Wits Chief Executive Officer Jose Ferreira says talented midfielder Thabang Monare is not for sale scuppering Kaizer Chiefs' hopes of signing him.
Chiefs were reportedly highly interested in securing the services of Monare, who made 25 Premiership appearances in 2018/19 for the Clever Boys.
However, Ferreira insists that the player is not for sale and will remain with the Students next season and possibly beyond as his deal only expires in 2021.
The Glamour Boys have been intent on trying to strengthen their squad as they look to improve upon a disastrous season in which they finished ninth and lost the Nedbank Cup final to TS Galaxy.
In addition, Chiefs have not won a trophy since 2015 and are in desperate need of improvement as they look to stop the dominance of Mamelodi Sundowns in South African football.
Speaking to Kickoff, Ferreira said: "He is not for sale. He is staying with the club next season."
Wits have made some changes of their own as veteran defender Vuyo Mere was released after his contract expired.
