Manenzhe excited by Mabasa and Makaringe for Pirates
Former Orlando Pirates striker Phumudzo Manenzhe believes forward Tshegofatso Mabasa has much to offer as does fellow new recruit Fortune Makaringe.
Mabasa finished last season with 10 goals in all competitions for Bloemfontein Celtic and his form caught the attention of Pirates' scouting team.
They snapped up the talented 22-year-old who now provides coach Milutin Sredojevic another option in attack.
Manenzhe said: "I'm happy because when you look at the past two seasons, in terms of the target man we had in the club, he was not producing the goals.
"Now you go get a Tshegofatso Mabasa who I am very happy with. He plays well with his back to goals and he is very powerful aerially.
"This is one of the target men who are mobile. He is coming into Orlando Pirates with a lot of goals. He scored 10 goals in all competitions, plus the three assists.
"He will be able to hold up the ball and bring in the likes of Vincent Pule and Lorch into the game, which is what Orlando Pirates was missing. Every time we had a corner kick as Buccaneers we were not hopeful because we did not have somebody powerful, but now Mabasa brings that."
He added of Makaringe who was signed from Maritzburg United: "Fortune Makaringe is another player I am excited to see. He has been consistent, he's a box-to-box player.
'You look at the game model of Pirates, they want to build from the back, get into midfield, get somebody to form combination play, small triangles and Fortune Makaringe brings that."
