Fitness buff Lekgwathi reveals gym secrets
Former Orlando Pirates captain Lucky Lekgwathi says is determined to stay fit in order that people continue to recognise him during public events.
Lekgwathi is considered a club legend for a career that spanned 12 years in which he won virtually every honour available in South African football.
The centre-back retired in 2014 but is inspired to stay in playing shape by going to gym five times a week - a formula he says ensures his long term health.
He told Kickoff: "I want to maintain my body and keep myself fit and keep myself healthy.
"As you know most of the players when they retire they gain weight, so I want to avoid that. I don't want to gain weight, instead of being called somewhere and then people don't recognise me because I've gained weight.
"It's motivates me when people see me and say 'Lucky you can still play'. So that means my body is in good shape.
"When you gym, you reduce the chances of getting sick, so that's what encourages me to stay fit. I train five times a week. On Monday I do chest,Tuesday is legs, Wednesday is back, Thursday is shoulder and Friday I do my arms. I've learnt from people at gym is that you should focus on one part and you'll see results."
