Bidvest Wits v Orlando Pirates

Bidvest Wits will be eyeing a third straight Premiership victory when they face Rulani Mokwena's Orlando Pirates at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday night.

The Clever Boys occupy third place in the league standings after back-to-back wins, but their cup form has been below their usual standards.

After suffering a shock 3-0 defeat to a ruthless SuperSport United in the MTN8 quarter-finals, Wits find themselves in a precarious position in the CAF Confederation Cup after 1-0 first-leg loss to Young Buffaloes in Manzini last Saturday.

Pirates, meanwhile, finally ended their winless streak under new head coach Mokwena as they clinched a 2-1 win over Chippa United at Orlando Stadium.

That result lifted the Buccaneers up to seventh place, just just points shy of top-of-table Kaizer Chiefs and Polokwane City.

And, looking ahead to the clash, Mokwena admits he is expecting a tough test.

"We take it step by step. Wits is another difficult one, a very difficult team. They are a well-coached team with an experienced coach [Gavin Hunt] who knows how to win. They have a very strong defence," said Mokwena.

"You are going to have to work very hard to be able to get through the Wits defence, Tyson [centre-back Thulani Hlatshwayo] is strong and is a Bafana Bafana international. They have a very strong midfield full of quality."

Meanwhile, Gavin Hunt has indicated that his game plan will not change for the Pirates clash.

He said: "I don't have anything to complain about.

"If we can collect nine points after every four games, then I will be more delighted. The plan is to do what we have been doing all along in the league."
