Chippa Utd 0-0 Bloem Celtic
There was no separating Chippa United and Bloemfontein Celtic on Saturday afternoon as they played to a drab goalless draw at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth.
Chippa went into the clash looking to end their winless streak, a run of results that ultimately led to the departure of head coach Clinton Larsen at the start of the week.
Duran Francis was subsequently named as interim boss but he was unable to steer his side to a win on home soil in what was his first match at the helm.
In fact, one would think that both sides had settled for a point before kick-off as the first half petered out with neither side able to lodge a shot on target.
Sadly, it was more of the same after the half-time break despite a series of substitutions from both coaches.
Celtic's Harris Tchilimbou was brought on to replace Maloisane Ramasimong early in the second stanza, before Chippa opted to introduce Thabo Rakhale and Augustine Chidi Kwem in place of William Twala and Lerato Manzini.
And, despite further substitutions later in the half, there was very little improvement in the quality of the match as the two sides settled for a share of the spoils.
