Baroka v Highlands Park

MTN8 finalists Highlands Park return to league action with a trip to Limpopo to face Baroka at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday.

Highlands will be brimming with confidence after overcoming Polokwane City on penalties in their MTN8 semi-final on Tuesday evening, which has given them a chance of claiming their first major tournament trophy in 36 years.

It has been a meteoric rise for Owen da Gama's side to get to this point, as they are only in their second season of top flight-football, having done brilliantly well to finish in seventh position on the Absa Premiership standings last campaign despite having just gained promotion from the NFD.

Da Gama's men will be looking for their second league win of the season, with their only victory in the Absa Premiership having come in a 2-1 victory over AmaZulu on August 27.

Meanwhile, Baroka have punched above their weight thus far this season and find themselves sitting pretty in seventh position with two wins, two draws and one defeat.

Bakgaga are coming off the back of a 2-0 win over Limpopo rivals Black Leopards on Sunday. If Wedson Nyirenda's side are to claim a second successive league victory, they will need to find a way past Thela Ngobeni, who has kept three clean sheets in three MTN8 games and looks to be rejuvenated following his move from Mamelodi Sundowns.

The last time the sides met was an Absa Premiership clash played in Makhulong Stadium back in March, with Highlands prevailing 2-1 on that occasion.

The match gets underway at 15h00.
