Ernst sums up Chiefs improvement under him

Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp summed up the improvement that Chiefs have made since he returned to the helm at the beginning of December 2019.

The German tactician took the reins with Chiefs in ninth position and that's where they would finish come the end of last season.

But this season Amakhosi have been a different beast altogether, winning 11 of their 13 Absa Premiership encounters.

Middendorp, who celebrated his one-year anniversary in the Glamour Boys hotseat with a 5-3 thrashing of Bloemfontein Celtic in Durban on Saturday, put it simply when asked whether he felt he had improved the side in his tenure.

"I'm not going into details," the Absa Premiership Coach of the Month told KickOff.

"If you can just sum it up, coming in December in 2018 position nine and when you enter December 2019 position one with ten points in front."

The 61-year-old has come in for plenty of flak from Chiefs fans in the past, especially last year for the 1-0 Nedbank Cup final defeat to TS Galaxy, but with his latest remarks Middendorp has given a smug dig at the critics.
