Middendorp urges fans to get behind Chiefs
Kaizer Chiefs head coach Ernst Middendorp has asked the clubs fans to get behind the team and help them refind their form after the disappointing defeat to Maritzburg United.
Amakhosi sit atop the Premiership standings but their lead has been cut to just four points after their shock loss to Maritzburg a week ago.
With just 10 games left of the season, there is no doubt the Soweto giants are in the driving seat but there are still plenty of points up for grab and a swift return to form is essential.
With that in mind, Middendorp has raised the rallying cry and called on fans to get behind the team and help push them over the line.
"Everybody should be very happy to be in a challenging situation and being able, in March, to win the championship. It’s something they haven’t been able to experience over the last five years," he said.
"Now everybody should really support and really be with the team in each and every moment, it doesn’t matter in a cup game, home or wherever, we are aware of it.
"Everybody knows what is at stake and they know exactly what was achieved so far, there’s no doubt about it. We have very smart, intelligent supporters on the Kaizer Chiefs side and we will see it in the near future."
Chiefs' first task is the Soweto derby against a resurgent Orlando Pirates on Saturday. Their arch-rivals have been resplendent under new head coach Josef Zinnbauer and have won their last six league fixtures in a row.
