Dlamini: Masilela has done enough to earn a new contract

Amazulu team manager Qedi Dlamini said if it was up to him he would renew the contract of Tsepo Masilela.

The 34-year-old Masilela's was seemingly heading for the exit at Usuthu with his deal to expire at the end of June.

However, according to Dlamini, the former Bafana defender has done enough to earn a new contract with good performances on the field.

In quotes published in the IOL Sport website, Dlamini said: "It will obviously all depend on the technical staff, but for me he hasn’t done badly.

"He has done very well and has worked very hard. In the last game we played, he showed that he is a top player.

"He is still young. Tsepo is just 34."

Amazulu are in the midst of a relegation battle and the experience of Masilela could come in handy in their last six games when the league resumes again.

Dlamini added: "One of the good things is that he motivates these young players.

"I saw one of our players mentioning in an interview that Tsepo is putting him under serious pressure to perform.

"That’s good and that’s what you want for these youngsters. You need people who will mentor them and take them to greater heights. And Tsepo does that."
