Huge player clearout takes place at Chippa United

Chippa United continue to make sweeping changes to the club after releasing 13 players during the January transfer window.

Recently the club appointed a new Chief Executive Officer with the arrival of Morgan Mammila.

In addition, former Golden Arrows coach Clinton Larsen was named as new coach to take over from Joel Masutha.

Nonetheless, 13 players have moved through the exit door from the Port Elizabeth-based outfit.

Nonetheless, Soccer Laduma report that one of the released players, Zaphaniah Mbokoma, has secured a deal with National First Division side Jomo Cosmos.

The midfielder has penned a deal until the end of the season with Ezenkosi.

Cosmos' official website said: "Jomo Cosmos have boosted their ranks with the acquisition of former Chippa United winger, Zaphaniah Mbokoma, who signed a six-month deal during the week."

Mbokoma made his debut for the team in their NFD match against Ajax Cape Town on Friday at the Athlone Stadium in the Mother City.

Meanwhile, former Highlands Park defender Tumisang Mashele is being assessed by club boss Jomo Sono in the hopes of winning a contract.
