PSL Preview: Supersport United v Polokwane City
Polokwane City travel to the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria on Saturday for a crucial clash against Supersport United.
Rise and Shine have hit a purple patch in the last few months, with their last defeat coming at the hands of Maritzburg United at the beginning of February. Since, draws against traditionally stronger teams Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns saw them earn valuable points.
Three wins from their last five fixtures pushed Polokwane to fourth on the ABSA Premiership table, seven points shy of table-toppers Orlando Pirates with a game in hand.
Polokwane’s form has sparked talk of a possible title run, but keeper George Chigova says the club is already well-placed to achieve their season goal.
"Like I said before my brother our target is to finish in the top eight," the Zimbabwean gloveman told KickOff.
"And now we have five games left we just take one game at a time and see how far we go. We don't want to give ourselves pressure by this title talk but what we can do is we take one game at a time and see how far we can finish.”
Meanwhile, Supersport are coming off a 1-1 draw with Kaizer Chiefs, but in reality, goals seemed to have dried up. Matsatsantsa have found the back of the net four times in the their last five outings and if the trend continues, they will find it tough against a dangerous Polokwane with a red hot striker in Mohammed Anas.
Nonetheless, Supersport are just one point behind Polokwane on the table and a victory on Saturday could move them into third if Bidvest Wits slip up away to Chippa United.
Kick-off is at 1800 in Pretoria on Saturday.
