Platinum Stars v Cape Town City

Platinum Stars will no doubt look to continue their battle against relegation when they face high-flying Cape Town City in Saturday night's Premiership clash at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium.

Veteran Dikwena captain Vuyo Mere believes the spirit in the camp is good and that the squad are hungry to keep making progress under coach Roger de Sa. Speaking to reporters, he said, "Hopefully the players are fresh and hungrier to do well for the team. We are preparing for Cape Town City, hopefully the players came back in the right frame of mind.

"We know what is at stake. We are still not out of it. We want to do well and try finish in the top eight. That’s the goal for now."

Both sides come into the encounter with significant changes having been made in the early days of the January transfer window. Stars have snapped up striker Letsie Koapeng from the Citizens as well as hard tackling midfielder Manti Mekoa from the National First Division.

The club's communication's manager Tebogo Mochadibane is hopeful that both can hit the ground running, saying, "Hopefully they will bring in more energy. They will bring fresh dimension to how the coach wants to approach matches. Above everything else, they are better suited to join us. They have the talent to contribute."

Meanwhile, for the Benni McCarthy-coached outfit from the the Mother City,  Surprise Ralani, Kwanda Mngonyama and Masoud Juma are the new acquisitions while Lehlohonolo Majoro departed for Bidvest Wits and Aubrey Ngoma signed for Mamelodi Sundowns. In addition, 23-year-old striker Judas Moseamedi penned a new and improved contract until 2022.
