Maritzburg make it two wins from two in play-offs

Maritzburg United took a big step towards securing their Premiership safety on Wednesday after recording a hard-fought 2-0 victory over NFD outfit Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila.

The result puts the Team of Choice at the top of the three-team table for the promotion-relegation play-offs, with Eric Tinkler's men having recorded a 1-0 win over Royal Eagles in their first game of the series.

After a goalless first period, the match sprang to life in the 69th minute when Judas Moseamedi headed home at the far post following a teasing from cross from Deolin Mekoa.

Maritzburg didn't ease off after breaking the deadlock and doubled their advantage with eight minutes remaining, midfielder Bongokuhle Hlongwane netting his first senior goal for the club after being teed up by Moseamedi.

Tinkler and his side will now cast their attention towards their clash with Royal Eagles at Chatsworth Stadium on 29 May, with their final play-off game coming against TT Madzivhandila at Harry Gwala Stadium on 1 June.
