Kaizer Chiefs unveil new kits for upcoming season

Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs have revealed their new home and away kits as they prepare for the 2018/19 Premiership campaign.

Kaizer Chiefs marketing director Jessica Motaung released a statement via the club's official website to announce the fresh new kit design, in conjunction with Nike.

Amakhosi described the new home kit as an 'iconic gold shirt complemented by bold diagonal black stripes running across the torso', with the stripes meant to represent 'traditional spears rising together'. The away kit has been designed to pay 'homage to African royalty'.

"Our long-standing partnership with Nike has produced many distinctive kit designs that have become part of our history, and this year is no different," Motaung said via the club's official website.

"With the world celebrating the centenary year of Tata Madiba's birth, we are sure that the former statesman would have been proud of this jersey just like his fondness of the Kaizer Chiefs jersey that he wore in 2002.

"The stylish, fashionable design is augmented by advancements in the fabric technology to give the garment a more comfortable feel and enable players to perform better on the pitch. We are once again thankful to Nike for another iconic home and away jersey.

"It is important to recognise our ladies and the role they play in supporting the team and having a special design for them is important to us."
